The Word on a background image for the Linux Desktop
This program picks the daily verses from the “Bible 2.0” collection and displays them on a randomly changing background image for the Linux Desktop. If more than one language is selected, these too change at regular intervals. The following languages are available:
- English
- German
- French
- Italian
- Spanish
- Hungarian
- Russian
- Thai
- Hebrew (unvowelled)

- Installation now easy by mouseclick, installation dialogues in English or German
- Specify desired Bible text language in the installation dialogue and change later if needed
- If more than one language is specified the Bible text will be displayed in a randomly chosen language at every instance - just like the image

Program description: daswort2png is based on a Python script by George Ruinelli which extracts the two daily verses from the Bible verse collection of bible2.net and displays them in the terminal. With daswort2png the verse doesn't stay in the terminal, but is projected on a daily changing image (PNM and PNG) which can be selected as the Linux desktop background. To that end, the program needs a directory where you store your favourite pictures from which one is selected at every computer start to be displayed with The Word.
System requirements: A relatively modern Linux system with the image manipulation package netpbm. If this is missing on your system the installation script will attempt to install it for you.
Installation: Dead easy, but please do read the LIESMICH+README file carefully!
